When choosing between different models, the measurement accuracy of your multimeter can be the deciding factor. For example, precisely matching circuit voltages requires higher voltage accuracy than general electrical testing.
Accuracy can be measured as a percentage, taken from the final value of the set measuring range or taken from the measured value. The difference between these two is considerable, and it's wise to consult the datasheet to determine the value advertised by your multimeter. As a rule of thumb, AC measurements are far less accurate than DC measurements.
Resolution is defined as the smallest measurement difference that the multimeter can recognize. A multimeter will have different resolutions for different measurement ranges. Usually, the resolution is high enough to give good results within basic accuracy.
